Total emergency in defense in the most difficult moment: it has already happened, Milan must regroup as it did then

Milan came out with broken bones from Torino, losing a direct confrontation, the fourth and half defense: almost K.O. for the formation of Gattuso, were it not for the fact that there are still four days to go until the end of the championship. The classification only reads -3 from the Champions zone (albeit with three teams in front) and the calendar offers four comparisons with teams now lacking motivation: Bologna and SPAL hi, Fiorentina far from the Europa zone and Frosinone relegated. Yet we have to go back to being compact, which we rarely saw in the last period.

FIRST EMERGENCY - Thinking back to the first part of the season, Milan was on the verge of collapse after the defeat against Juventus, with Higuain disqualified and the entire defense in pieces: Romagnoli, Musacchio and Caldara injured, with Gattuso forced to adapt Abate as a central defender alongside Zapata. That team was able to get back on track with nails and teeth, taking advantage of the emergency of the rearguard to square and give the maximum for the group's purposes. It is no coincidence that the results have arrived just from that difficult period.

THE GATTUSO SOLUTIONS - Milan will live an evening without appeal against Bologna on Monday evening. And it will have to do it in an equally complicated situation: Calabria and Conti will be missing due to injury and Romagnoli due to suspension, with the Rossoneri coach still forced to revolutionize his rearguard. The Rossoneri coach could point to Abate and continue with the four-man defense, with Musacchio and Zapata (or Caldara) central and Rodriguez on the left; or try the three-man defense again, but after the disaster in the Italian Cup it is difficult to imagine something like that. Perhaps the presence of Abate would be advisable, not only on a technical level but above all due to a sense of belonging: in a decommissioned Milan, relying on men who lived in certain changing rooms could be the best move. And who knows if the emergency can't compact Milan again at the toughest moment.
